Mavericks draft pick Dennis Smith Jr. has real-time trading card
The trading card business has joined the real-time world.
As part of Panini America’s Instant collection, a trading card was produced for Dallas Mavericks first-round draft pick Dennis Smith Jr. of North Carolina State.
But you have to hurry, the instant cards are offered for only 24 hours. It expires at 8 p.m. today.
The Mavericks selected Smith with the ninth overall selection Thursday night during the NBA Draft.
Panini America, the official trading card partner of the NBA, released Smith’s first-ever NBA trading card on PaniniInstant.com.
This specific card is available in a base version, numbered to 50, numbered to 25, numbered to 10, numbered to 5 and one-of-one on a first-come basis. Fans can order on PaniniInstant.com.
The Panini Instant collection commemorates milestones and achievements in real-time for fans.
The cards will be shipped to consumers within three to five business days after the 24-hour ordering window expires. Price ranges from $9.99-$149.99 depending on the variation.
Smith (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) was an early-entry candidate to this year’s draft after spending one season at North Carolina State. As a freshman, he averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists while shooting .455 from the field, .359 from 3-point range and .715 from the free throw line.
