Ledo will be waived if the Mavs sign Stoudemire

DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks have told guard Ricky Ledo that he will be waived Wednesday if they’re able to complete their plans and sign center/forward Amar’e Stoudemire.

Ledo hasn’t exactly progressed the way the Mavs wanted him to since they acquired him in a draft-day trade in 2013. In fact, Ledo has spent the majority of his time languishing with the D-League’s Texas Legends.

"We talked to Ledo today and informed him that if the Stoudemire transaction goes through, that he will be waived tomorrow afternoon,’’ coach Rick Carlisle said. "If something happens and the Stoudemire transaction doesn’t go through, then he’ll remain with the Mavericks.’’

Stoudemire reached an agreement on a buyout with the New York Knicks on Monday and is expected to sign with the Mavs after he clears waivers at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The 13-year veteran also will be in uniform when the Mavs play the Thunder in Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. Thursday.
