Basketball card signed by Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant earns record price

Heritage Auctions, located in Dallas, sold a 2007 Upper Deck basketball card signed by Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan for a record $12.932 million Saturday.

The price is the highest ever for a sports card, surpassing a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card that sold for $12.6 million in 2022, according to ESPN.

It more than doubled the previous record for a basketball card of $5.9 million paid in 2021 for a 2009-10 National Treasures Steph Curry Logoman Autograph card.

The card features Bryant and Jordan, each flanked with a stitching of the NBA logo, with the one next to Jordan in gold instead of the typical red, white and blue.

The Jordan-Bryant card was a part of the Dual NBA Logo Autographs series, featuring NBA superstars from the past and present together, including Julius Irving, LeBron James and Scottie Pippen.

Jordan appeared on eight cards in that series and Bryant appeared on 11, but the one up for auction was the only one of them together, according to the description of the card.
