Rangers lose second straight as A’s homers ambush Bush
The Ahletics hit two two-run homers against Matt Bush in the eighth to come from behind to beat the Rangers 6-4 Wednesday night at Globe Life Park. The A’s took two the final two games of the three-game series. The Rangers host a four-game set with the Kansas City Royals beginning Thursday night.
Pitching: Yu Darvish allowed two runs on four hits in six innings and left leading 3-2. Darvish struck out six and walked none. Keone Kela pitched a scoreless seventh. In the eighth, Matt Bush surrendered two two-run homers to Coco Crisp and Davis as the A’s reclaimed the lead 6-3. Jake Diekman took over for Bush with none on to get the final two outs. Shawn Tolleson pitched the ninth.
Hitting: Ian Desmond doubled with two outs and scored on Adrian Beltre’s single to left in the third inning to pull the Rangers to within 2-1. In the fifth, Desmond’s two-out, two-run homer put the Rangers up 3-2. Jurickson Profar singled in front of Desmond. In the ninth, Elvis Andrus singled and scored with two outs on Mitch Moreland’s infield single to short to pull the Rangers to within 6-4. But Profar, who represented the tying run, struck out to end the game.
Notable: Profar collected his first three-hit game of the season and first since June 12, 2013 ... Bush allowed four runs on two homers in 0.1 innings pitched. Before Wednesday, he had allowed seven earned runs in 31 1/3 innings.
