Joey Gallo second spring home run Sunday was the only offensive highlight until the ninth inning for the Texas Rangers, and the Los Angeles Angels scored five times in the seventh inning en route to a 7-3 victory.

Derek Holland allowed two runs in four innings, but the Angels’ broke open a 2-1 game with five runs against rotation hopeful Anthony Ranaudo as he worked on changes to his delivery.

Hitting: Matt Shoemaker walked three batters in the first inning, but the Rangers didn’t score. Delino DeShields was picked off after stealing second base for the second out, and Nomar Mazara struck out after Mitch Moreland and Justin Ruggiano walked. ... Ryan Rua tripled to start the ninth and scored a James Jones followed with his second spring homer. 

I think it was a slurve. He doubled up on it. The first pitch, I swung through it, but I was able to stay back a little longer and get just enough of it to keep it stay fair.

Pitching: Sam Dyson and Jake Diekman worked a scoreless inning apiece after Holland allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks. The homer he allowed was to former battery mate Geovany Soto. ... Yohander Mendez, who has never pitched above Low A, got the last four outs. 

Notable: Juremi Profar replaced Gallo at third base after the fifth inning and played the final three innings next to older brother Jurickson. ... Left fielder Drew Stubbs helped out Holland in the fourth, throwing out Andrelton Simmons as he tried to stretch a single into a double.
