The Rangers announced Thursday that the protective netting extending to the end of each dugout at Globe Life Park will be 6 feet high.

Extra signs will warn fans about the dangers of batted balls and bats entering the stands. The club is offering to relocate any fans, based on a availability, who wish to sit in a section that has the added protection. An email was sent to season ticket holders Thursday afternoon.

“We fully understand that it may take some time for fans to be accustomed to this change and that some fans may have a different preference for their ballpark experience,” Rangers vice president Rob Matwick said in a written statement. “We will do our best to accommodate the requests of any fan who is affected by the changes.”

Major League Baseball issued safety recommendations to all 30 teams in December. At the time, the Rangers, who were already in compliance with the recommendations, said they would extend the netting.
