Latest on Jurickson Profar, Geovany Soto

Jurickson Profar is feeling good as he progresses in his throwing program, playing long toss and throwing to bases. He went through early fielding drills Thursday, receiving and throwing double-play balls as well as beginning them.

Profar has yet to play second base in a game, but he is on a schedule that should have him out there at some point in the middle of the month, manager Ron Washignton said.

“He’s getting the at-bats, he’s getting the repetitions of groundballs and turning double plays and feeds and all the different balls you can get being out there in that infield,” Washington said. “He’s getting all of that. So when his throwing gets to the point where we can start putting him in ball games, he’ll look like he never missed.”

Catcher Geovany Soto, who has been sidelined after undergoing foot surgery, is on scheduled too. He is expected to take batting practice for the first time Friday, and still plans to be ready for game action by March 15.
