st inning: Delino DeShields, Shin-Soo Choo and Prince Fielder started the game with a double and two singles to give Texas a quick 1-0 lead. Choo scored on Mitch Moreland’s fielder’s choice to first. The inning ended with an unassisted double play by first baseman Chris Colabello, who stepped on first to get Josh Hamilton, and then ran across the diamond to tag Fielder, who was stuck between third and home with Moreland standing on third. Josh Donaldson homered against Cole Hamels on a full count to center to get the Blue Jays on the board. Rangers 2, Blue Jays 1.
nd inning: Rougned Odor led off with a four-pitch walk and took two bases on Chris Gimenez’s comebacker to the mound. Odor saw that Donaldson had come off third base and just beat the throw with a head-first slide. He scored on Hanser Alberto’s sacrifice fly to center, sliding under the tag on a close play. Toronto pulled even with two runs as Troy Tulowitzki started by reaching on Alberto’s fielding error at third. Colabello doubled to right, followed by a Russell Martin single that scored Tulowitzki. With runners on the corners and no outs, Hamels got Kevin Pillar to ground into a 5-4-3 double play, which allowed Colabello to score the tying run. Rangers 3, Blue Jays 3.
rd inning: Stroman retired the side, including strikeouts of Choo and Moreland. Hamels allowed a two-out Jose Bautista single to left but made a nice play on a comebacker from Edwin Encarnacion to end the inning. Rangers 3, Blue Jays 3.
th inning: Both pitchers settled down and retired the side in order. Stroman sat down Elvis Andrus, Hamilton and caught Odor looking to end the inning. Hamels struck out Tulowitzki but catcher Gimenez had to play the third strike off the back wall and quickly throw to first for the first out in the inning. Hamels got two groundouts to second to end the inning. Rangers 3, Blue Jays 3.
th inning: Stroman retired 12 consecutive Rangers between the second and fifth innings, including DeShields for the final out in the fifth when Tulowitzki made spinning stop and throw up the middle. Pillar double down the right-field line to start the bottom of the inning. He moves to third on Ryan Goins’ sacrifice bunt and scored on Ben Revere’s single through the right side to give the Blue Jays their first lead. Blue Jays 4, Rangers 3.
