Follow the Star-Telegram’s writers covering Game 1 of the ALDS between the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

1st inning: Shin-Soo Choo and Adrian Beltre worked one-out walks but Prince Fielder hit into an inning-ending double play. Yovani Gallardo forced two flyouts to center and got Jose Bautista to pop up to second. Rangers 0, Blue Jays 0.

2nd inning: David Price struck out the side in the second, including Mike Napoli, Josh Hamilton and Elvis Andrus. Gallardo retired the side in order and had thrown 23 pitches over the first two frames. Blue Jays 0, Rangers 0.

3rd inning: Rougned Odor was hit by a pitch to start the inning and moved to second on Robinson Chirinos’ groundout to third. Delino DeShields’ single through the right side to score Odor. After Choo grounded out, Beltre roped a single to center to score DeShields from second. Gallardo retired the side again with three ground balls. Hanser Alberto had to replace Beltre who left the game with lower back stiffness. Rangers 2, Blue Jays 0.

4th inning: Price retired the side in order, including Napoli, who struck out for the second time. Ben Revere led off with a single, the first base runner for Toronto and Josh Donaldson followed with a walk. Alberto struggled to get ground ball out of his glove before throwing to second for the out. Odor was taken out by Donaldson on the slide and held onto the ball. With runners on the corners, Revere scored on Edwin Encarnacion’s slow tapper to third, which Alberto failed to barehand. Gallardo got Justin Smoak swinging to end the inning. Rangers 2, Blue Jays 1.

5th inning: After Odor led off by being hit by a pitch for the second time, Chirinos homered on a 94 mph fastball to left-center to make it 4-1. Price retired the top of the order on ground balls. Russell Martin and Kevin Pillar had consecutive doubles to right-center to score a run to start the bottom of the inning against Gallardo. Gallardo regrouped to force two groundouts to end the inning. Rangers 4, Blue Jays 2.

6th inning: Price used 10 pitches to retire the side, including a three-pitch swinging strikeout of Hamilton to end the top half. Rookie Keone Kela started the bottom of the inning and surrendered a lead-off homer to Jose Bautista. Kela retired the next three batters, including a strikeout of Smoak. Rangers 4, Blue Jays 3.

7th inning: Odor’s solo homer to the right-field corner gave Texas a 5-3 lead. Jake Diekman started the bottom of the inning and retired the side in order, getting a nice stop far to his right by shortstop Elvis Andrus for the second out. Rangers 5, Blue Jays 3.

8th inning: Left-hander Brett Cecil started the eighth for Toronto. He walked Mike Napoli with two outs but got Hamilton to groundout to short to end the top half. Diekman retired the side in the eighth on 10 pitches, getting Bautista to foul out to Mitch Moreland, who had replace Napoli at first to start the inning. Rangers 5, Blue Jays 3.

9th inning: Right-hander Aaron Sanchez retired the side in the top of the inning, including Odor who flew out to left. Sam Dyson pitched the bottom of the inning to close it out. Edwin Encarnacion led off with a single up the middle but Dyson was able to strikeout Tulowitzki, get Smoak to groundout and Martin to groundout to third to end the game and earn his first save since Aug. 5. Rangers 5, Blue Jays 3.
