Tatsuya Imai, a rookie who came in with an 8.31 ERA, spearheaded a combined no-hitter for the Houston Astros in a 9-0 victory Monday at Globe Life Field.
This was the sixth time in franchise history that the Rangers have been no-hit, with the last coming against the New York Yankees’ Corey Kluber in 2021.
Imai pitched six innings with two strikeouts and four walks. Steven Okert threw the seventh inning, then Alimber Santa cruised through the final two innings for a memorable major league debut.

Imai walked three Rangers in the first inning but didn’t allow a run. Texas didn’t get two runners on base in an inning again.
Imai had allowed at least three earned runs in four of his five starts this season. Monday’s outing pushed his ERA down to 6.17.
The Rangers have scored the third-fewest runs in the majors this season.
Monday started a seven-game homestand for the Rangers (24-29), who lost their fourth straight after being swept by the Los Angeles Angels, the worst team in the American League, over the weekend.
First baseman Christan Walker hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, and designated hitter Yordan Alvarez had a solo shot in the fourth for Houston (24-31).
Rangers starter Kumar Rocker allowed four runs on four hits in five innings with five strikeouts and two walks.
Third baseman Josh Jung, one of Texas’ offensive bright spots with a .302 batting average, sat out a second straight game after leaving with a shoulder injury Saturday. He is not expected to miss an extended amount of time.
