What to know about the final Texas Rangers homestand of the season

The Texas Rangers are preparing for their final homestretch of the season which will see them play two American League rivals and have two highly anticipated home debuts.

The Rangers begin their final homestand of the season with a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays (72-78) at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Rangers will then host a three-game series against AL West foe the Seattle Mariners (77-73) , beginning on Friday at 7:05 p.m. They play their final home game of the year at Globe Life Field on Sunday.

The Rangers could get the chance to shut the door on the Mariners’ long-shot playoff hopes during the series. Seattle is currently 2.5 games out of the final wild-card spot in the American League.

Anticipated pitching debuts

The homestand will also see the home debut of pitcher Kumar Rocker. His start is scheduled for the series finale at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Rocker, the Rangers’ No. 2 rated prospect according to the MLB Pipeline, made his Rangers debut on the road against the Mariners in a 5-4 win.

Rocker received a no-decision after giving up one run off three hits in four innings. He struck out seven.

The Vanderbilt product’s successful big league debut continues his excellent 2024 season. He has posted a 0-1 record with a 1.99 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 36.2 innings across various minor leagues and his lone major league start.

Jacob deGrom also made his 2024 debut against the Mariners on Friday and will pitch against them again in the series opener on Friday. DeGrom also received a no-decision in his start giving up no runs and only four hits in 3.2 innings with four strikeouts.

Max Scherzer will start on Saturday in what could be his final home game for the Rangers as the two-time World Series Champion is an unrestricted free agent following this season.

Pregame presentation

Second Baseman Marcus Semien will be honored before Tuesday’s game as the team’s nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, given out annually to a player who best represents the game of baseball through community outreach, sportsmanship, and positive contributions on and off the field.

Semien would be the first Texas Ranger to win the award, fans can vote for the award and see every team’s nominee on the MLB’s website.

On Saturday, the Texas Rangers Community Grant Program and Chevron will present grants to Casa de Amigos, First Tee West Texas, Midland Junior Baseball, Society of Professional Engineers, Permian Basin Section, and the Midland branch of the Young Women’s Leadership Academy on the field prior to the game.

Theme Nights and promotions

The Rangers’ homestand will feature multiple promotions for attendees.

Tuesday will be Last Chance Night, which is a sellout, and will give all theme night ticket purchasers either a Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavs or FC Dallas City Connect jersey, a World Series Topps trading card, a collectible pin of either Adolis Garcia, Evan Carter or Corey Seager and a World Series replica ring.

Another sold-out theme night is Wednesday’s True Brvnd Hat Hispanic Heritage Night which will see theme ticket purchasers given Hispanic Heritage-themed True Brvnd cap.

Fans wanting a shot at World Series replica rings can purchase tickets to Thursday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays when the team will be giving away a Josh Sborz replica ring. Tickets are still available and can be purchased on the Rangers website.

On Friday, the Rangers will give away co-branded Good Good Golf Caps to theme night ticket purchases. Tickets for this promotion are still available.

Saturday’s game will be Hispanic Heritage Night and have a Sesame Street-themed promotion, which is sold out, that will give fans a Cookie Monster plushie. The first 15,000 fans will also get an Adolis Garcia cartwheel bobblehead and Rangers fan favorite Ian Kinsler will sign autographs for the first 225 fans behind Section 101 beginning at 4:15 p.m.

The team will also have pre- and post-game festivities honoring Hispanic heritage including performances by Dallas-Fort Worth salsa group Havana NRG at Texas Live! following the game.

On Sunday’s home finale, the team will give away a mystery replica World Series ring from either Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Adolis García, or Nathan Eovaldi to the first 29,000 fans in attendance. Tickets are still available on the Rangers website.
