Fanatics gives a devoted Texas Rangers fan a surprise after it had canceled his order
Sean Deitrick was heartbroken when he had an Adolis Garcia autographed baseball that he had pre-ordered was canceled by Fanatics.
The sports apparel company surprised Deitrick with a video from Garcia who invited him to attend Texas Rangers’ season opener on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs at Globe Life Field.
Deitrick is a Flower Mound resident and die-hard fan of the Rangers and specifically Garcia. He took to X, formerly Twitter, to vent his frustrations and his tweet went viral amassing 2.2 million views.
Deitrick was at lunch when he received a direct message from Fanatics that included the Garcia video.
“I saw it was a note from Fanatics that said, hey, we’ve got a message from Adolis for you, do you have any plans for opening day?” said Deitrick, “I just played it and I was like, oh my gosh, they’re inviting me to the game.”
Deitrick was planning on attending the game before he got this surprise but was wowed by the seats offered to him, saying they were the best seats he’s had to a Rangers game.
“We’re talking about putting you right behind home plate,” said Deitrick, “My daughter came home from school and I showed her the video and she absolutely freaked out.
Deitrick and his daughter could not attend any of the Rangers home playoff games last year. Now, he will get the opportunity to see the Rangers hang their championship banner.
“To be able to be there on the day, that’s like, that’s a, a memory that I know is gonna go with me for the rest of my life and it’s something that me and my daughter will share forever,” said Deitrick.
While initially upset about the canceled order, Deitrick said he was impressed how Fanatics worked to make it up to him.
“I never would have imagined [this] for something that was ultimately a very minor inconvenience for a couple of days in my life, because I got the other ball and stuff, they really impressed me,” said Deitrick, “I mean, it was, it was amazing customer service and really like taking the time to try to make it up to me.”
