Report: Texas Rangers avoid arbitration and sign Adolis Garcia to a two-year contract

According to multiple reports, Texas Rangers and outfielder Adolis Garcia have agreed to a two-year contract avoiding arbitration.

Garcia and the Rangers were headed to an arbitration meeting on Thursday after being more than a million dollars apart in contract negotiations.

In January, the Rangers offered Garcia $5 million while Garcia’s camp countered with $6.9 million.

At the Rangers awards dinner on Jan. 26 at Globe Life Field, Garcia expressed disappointment but said he would be there to help the club and be the same player.

As of yet the figures for the two-year contract have yet to be revealed and the deal is still pending a physical.

Garcia was in his first year of arbitration following a 20023 season in which he hit .245 with 39 home runs with 109 RBIs along with an all-star appearance, Golden Glove selection and a 2023 ALCS MVP award.

Garcia’s 2023 season ended in game 3 of the World Series after suffering from an oblique injury, though the Rangers would win the following two games without him to capture their first World Series Trophy.

Garcia’s two-year contract means the slugger will have one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2026.
