Texas Rangers

Are pundits picking the Texas Rangers or Arizona Diamondbacks to win the World Series?

The Texas Rangers will play the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series looking for the franchise’s firstFall Classic victory.

The Rangers played the Diamondbacks four times this season losing three of the games, however, most national media selected the Rangers to hoist the Commissioner’s Trophy.

According to FanDuel, the Rangers are the betting favorites to win the World Series with Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia being World Series MVP favorites.

For the sake of mixing things up, I’ll go with the Diamondbacks. I’m used to being wrong, so why not add another to the list? But really, while I think the Rangers are the better team, that doesn’t always guarantee anything in the postseason. I could see Lovullo mimicking the 2019 Nationals and 2018 Red Sox and really leveraging Gallen and Kelly to secure the franchise’s second world title.

Prediction: Diamondbacks in seven

Mark Schofield, SB Nation

I put the Phillies at the top of the rankings going into the LCS, partly because of the advantage they had playing at home. Well ... Arizona went into Citizens Bank Park and won a pair of games to get here. They’re pitching well, and have found ways to get the job done. Texas can absolutely mash ... but so could the Phillies.

Prediction: Diamondbacks in seven

But coming back to beat a Philadelphia team that looked like an October juggernaut in the NLCS, after falling behind 0-2 — getting outscored 15-3 — is downright stunning.

This might not be a matchup the TV networks were dreaming of, but it’s a World Series matchup full of rich storylines and legacies on the line.

Prediction: Diamondbacks in six

Mike Axisa, CBS Sports

The D-backs have major 2015 Royals vibes with their speed and athleticism, and they’re a lot better than their 84-78 regular season record indicates. The Rangers bullpen worries me a bit, though I think they’re the better team overall, particularly on offense, so I’m going with them.

Prediction: Rangers in seven
