The Houston Astros had Jose Altuve on first base with Alex Bregman up in the bottom of the eighth inning trailing 2-0 to the Texas Rangers. Bregman hit a ball to left-center field at Minute Maid Park and Rangers outfielder Evan Carter made an amazing catch to retire Bregman and threw the ball to first in an attempt to catch Altuve in a double play.

Altuve made it back to first ahead of Carter’s throw but upon a challenge from Rangers Manager Bruce Bochy, it was revealed that Altuve forgot to re-touch the second base bag on his way back to first base and was therefore out.

The play was a huge momentum shift for the Rangers emptying the bases of runners and allowing the Rangers to escape the eighth-inning.

The Astros failed to get another runner on base for the remainder of the game and fell 2-0 to the Rangers in game 1 of the ALCS.
