Texas Rangers

Which Texas Rangers were listed as top MVP candidates according to pundits?

The MLB regular season is drawing to a close and MLB.com conducted a poll to see which players are the leading candidates for American League and National League MVP.

The voters selected three Texas Rangers among their top six AL MVP candidates and Los Angels Angel Shohei Ohtani as their top MVP choice.

No. 6 Corey Seager

Corey Seager is slashing .349 with 18 home runs and 64 RBIs. Seager has the third most home runs and RBIs among MLB shortstops which is especially noteworthy considering both Francisco Lindor and Bobby Witt have played approximately 40 more games than Seager.

Seager has been one of the best players in the MLB this season when he has played and if not for the time missed to injury, Seager would most likely be higher on this list.

No. 4 Marcus Semien

If Semien finishes top five in MVP voting this season it will make the third time in five years that Semien has been voted one of the top five players in baseball. This season Semien is hitting .279 with 18 home runs, 71 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

Semien is second among MLB second basemen in RBIs, third in home runs and leads all second basemen in runs scored. Semien has been in a grove over his last 15 games batting .328 with five home runs and 12 RBIs.

No. 3 Adolis Garcia

No player in the AL has more RBIs than Garcia’s 89 and the Atlanta Braves Matt Olson is the only player in the MLB with more. Garcia is top ten in home runs, RBIs and runs scored while on pace to set career high in each category.

Garcia is hitting .266 with 29 home runs and 89 RBIs and has been the Rangers’ best power hitter this season.
