Late spring training standouts for the Texas Rangers
Opening day of the MLB season is fast approaching and the Texas Rangers are looking for their first winning season in six years.
As they creep closer to opening day here are several spring training standouts for the Texas Rangers.
Josh Jung
Jung missed most of last season with a torn labrum but has come out swinging in spring training.
Jung is batting .310/.333/.690/1.023 with two home runs and five RBIs and seems ready to have the season that some expected him to have last year before his injury.
Corey Seager
Seager hit a career-high in home runs and was an all-star selection in his first season with the Rangers in 2022. Seager looks like he’ll pick up where he left off last season if spring training is any indication.
Seager is slashing .500/.552/.885/1.437 with three home runs and eight RBIs while leading the Rangers in hits and ranking second in RBIs during spring training.
Cole Ragans
Ragans has been one of the Rangers best pitchers out in Suprise, Ariz.
Ragans is 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA, 14 strikeouts and 0.83 WHIP in 9.2 innings pitched. Ragans is hoping to make the opening day roster and his chances seem to have increased with Jake Odorizzi set to miss opening day.
Ezequiel Duran
A jack of all trades that has played four positions in spring training so far. Duran’s versatility in conjunction with his hitting prowess has been impressive.
Duran is slashing .297/.333/.405/.738 with seven RBIs.
Robbie Grossman
The 10-year veteran has been staking a claim to left field with his spring training play.
Grossman is hitting .375/.484/.708/1.192 with two home runs and a team-leading nine RBIs through 11 spring training games.
The Rangers begin the season on March 30 at Globe Life Field against the Philadelphia Phillies.
