Matt Harrison made an emotional return after more than a year recovering from back surgery but the Arizona Diamondbacks put a damper on the evening and gave the Texas Rangers their eighth consecutive loss at home. Arizona swept the two-game series with a 7-4 win at Globe Life Park.

Pitching: Matt Harrison made his return to the mound since having spinal fusion surgery in May 2014. The Diamondbacks scored five runs with two outs on three consecutive singles and a three-run homer by A.J. Pollock.

Harrison was charged with six runs on six hits and three walks in four innings. He left after a leadoff single in the fifth. Anthony Bass replaced him and gave up a two-out, two-run homer to Welington Castillo to make it 7-2.

Hitting: Down 5-0 in the third, the Rangers scored twice to pull to within 5-2 on a run-scoring groundout by Shin-Soo Choo and a run-scoring single to left by Prince Fielder. Adrian Beltre doubles off the glove of Yasmany Tomas to give the Rangers runners at second and third but Josh Hamilton struck out to end the inning. The Rangers loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth but Delino DeShields struck out looking and Choo flew out to center. Texas added runs in the fifth and sixth to make it 7-4. Hamilton doubled in Beltre in the fifth and Rougned Odor scored on Choo’s sacrifice fly in the sixth. Beltre had three of the Rangers’ 11 hits.

Notable: Fielder collected his league-leading 37th multi-hit game ... Rangers pitchers had surrendered 13 or more hits in their previous four games before holding Arizona to nine on Wednesday night ... Arizona starter Jeremy Hellickson left the game after four innings with a blister on his right thumb ... Texas’ eight consecutive home losses is tied for the club’s second-longest losing streak at home behind nine in a row in 1990.
