Rangers Adolis Garcia perfectly times home run robbery against Astros Yordan Alvarez
What Adolis Garcia giveth, he can also taketh away.
The Texas Rangers slugger, who has two home runs in his past four games, robbed Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez of a two-run homer in the fifth inning Monday at Globe Life Field.
Garcia found the right-field wall and perfectly-timed his jump to make the catch and end the top of the fifth in the Rangers’ 5-3 comeback win.
“I kind of just felt where the wall was at, and calculated exactly where I was at and that’s why I think it looked very easy,” Garcia said.
The Rangers took a 5-3 lead with three runs in the eighth inning on RBI singles by Ezequiel Duran and Brad Miller and a run-scoring fielder’s choice by Corey Seager. Rangers starter Taylor Hearn allowed three runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Alvarez, who is tied for third in the majors with 17 homers, singled in his first two at-bats Monday.
Garcia was 1 for 4 with a walk and an RBI single in Monday’s game, which included an Adolis Garcia bobblehead giveaway.
Rangers manager Chris Woodward called Garcia the best outfielder in the game.

“They’re both the same feeling,” Garcia said. “I didn’t even realize who was hitting it, at the time, I just go and get what’s in the air.”
