Texas Rangers alter TV broadcast after C.J. Nitkowski tests positive for COVID-19

The Texas Rangers were forced to make significant changes to their television broadcast Thursday and likely going forward the rest of the season after analyst C.J. Nitkowski tested positive for COVID-19.

The Rangers and Fox Sports Southwest decided to simulcast the Rangers radio feed while giving anyone who had worked the past several games a night off.

Anyone who was in close contact with Nitkowski must test negative for COVID-19 before being allowed to resume working. Play-by-play man Dave Raymond said he has tested negative and will resume working Friday night.

The Rangers quickly moved into their protocols for a positive test at Globe Life Field, which included a professional-grade cleaning of the broadcast level. Any media member or member of the MLB stats crew who enters Globe Life Field must be wearing a mask and have their temperatures checked.

Rangers broadcasters are not traveling with the team this season.

Nitkowski has had no contact with any players, coaches or anyone else who has access to clubhouses and field.
