Texas Rangers utility man Kiner-Falefa dealing with hamstring tightness
Isiah Kiner-Falefa was a late scratch from the Texas Rangers lineup on Saturday afternoon. Kiner-Falefa is dealing with a tightness in his left hamstring.
“I’m hoping it’s just a cramp,” Rangers manager Chris Woodward said. “That’s what he said he felt a little bit last night. I don’t know if it’s enough to be considered a strain. But it was something we both kind of talked about, and I talked about with the trainers. I don’t know if it was grabbing on him a little bit when he was trying to run before the game, so I felt like it makes no sense to try and put him in a situation where he could end up hurting himself even more.”
Woodward said Kiner-Falefa may be an option for Sunday’s series finale against the Colorado Rockies, or possibly when the Rangers open a two-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday following an off day on Monday.
Kiner-Falefa had been slated to play third base on Saturday. Todd Frazier moved from first base to third base, and Ronald Guzman played first base for the Rangers.
The Rangers lost Saturday’s game 3-2 to the Colorado Rockies.
