Texas Rangers haven’t played a game in 2020, but their 2021 schedule is ready to go
In the craziest of years for Major League Baseball, here’s another oddity:
The schedule for next season has been released before this season has even started.
Let the planning begin!
The Texas Rangers are scheduled to open the 2021 season April 1 at the Kansas City Royals, and to host the Toronto Blue Jays on April 5 in the home opener at Globe Life Field.
The Rangers will again play the National League West in interleague play, with home games against the Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants. They will travel to Colorado and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The New York Yankees come to town May 17-20 and are followed May 21-23 by the Houston Astros’ first visit. The Boston Red Sox are scheduled to visit April 29-May 2.
The season is scheduled to end Oct. 3 at Globe Life Field against the Cleveland Indians.
The Rangers will open the 2020 season July 24 against Colorado at Globe Life Field. Fans are not expected to be allowed at Rangers home games in July, but the possibility remains for fans at 50% capacity in August and September despite a recent surge in positive COVID-19 tests.
Two Rangers players, Joey Gallo and Brett Martin, tested positive for COVID during the screening ahead of summer camp.
