Texas Rangers

Have tickets to Rangers games in April scrapped by coronavirus? Here are your options.

The Texas Rangers are offering fans who purchased single-game tickets for any of the 17 April home games impacted by the coronavirus pandemic a chance to get their money back.

Those who fall into that group were presented with two options: A refund, or a credit for the tickets they hold plus tickets (up to four) for an additional non-premier game later in the 2020 season.

Those who have season tickets or groups that purchased tickets will be contacted individually to discuss their options.

The lone exception is the home opener, which was scheduled for March 31. The Rangers said those tickets will be good for a future opener, hopefully this season.

The information was posted Wednesday on the Rangers’ website, the day after MLB gave teams the go-ahead to issue policies regarding games that have not been played because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The last of the Rangers’ scheduled April games at Globe Life Field was to be played Wednesday.

To receive a refund, a ticket holder must visit www.mlb.com/rangers/fans/update, where they can find a link to begin the process. The Rangers are requiring the ticket holder’s name; a confirmation number, found on the email received after the purchase; and method of payment, either credit card, cash or check.

Season-ticket holders will be contacted by their representatives. They will receive a credit for the tickets and also receive credit to be used toward concessions and merchandise.

Fans who purchased tickets on the secondary market must deal with their vendor for a refund.

MLB is optimistic that there will be a 2020 season and is actively vetting plans that might work, assuming medical experts sign off on the final plan and that ample COVID-19 tests are available to the public.

For now, however, all of those plans do not include fans in ballparks and only one of them would have teams playing games in their home ballparks.

To that end, the Rangers understand that they might have to fulfill requests for exchanges next season.
