Darkest days in Houston sports history? ‘Asterisks’ jokes come day after Texans loss.

The past 48 hours could be called the darkest in Houston sports history.

A day after the Houston Texans failed to hold a 24-point lead against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, Major League Baseball handed down a massive punishment into the Astros sign-stealing scandal in 2017, the season they won the World Series.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow were fired by owner Jim Crane after MLB suspended them for the entire 2020 season. The Astros also lost draft picks in future drafts and were fined $5 million.

The reaction on social media helped put the two-day gut punch to Houston sports fans in perspective.
