Rangers recap: Prince and Mitch supply the power in seventh straight win
Prince Fielder’s three-run homer in the fifth tied the game and Mitch Moreland’s solo homer in the eighth gave the Rangers the 4-3 win as Texas won its seven consecutive game.
Pitching: Wandy Rodriguez struggled with his command early and trailed 3-0 after four innings. He left after giving up four hits and walking five in 5 1/3 innings. The bullpen was solid again as Tanner Scheppers, Keone Kela and Ross Ohlendorf combined for 2 2/3 scoreless innings before Shawn Tolleson pitched the ninth for his fifth save on the current road trip.
Hitting: Fielder remained hot at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a three-run homer that tied the game in the fifth. Mitch Moreland’s solo homer in the eighth gave Texas the 4-3 lead. Elvis Andrus was 3 for 4 with a double and a stolen base.
Notable: Josh Hamilton went 0 for 4 Tuesday and is now 0 for 7 with three strikeouts in his two games since joining the Rangers. Hamilton lined out to first in the eighth Tuesday, his best-hit ball in eight plate appearances.
