Rangers recap: Astros go deep twice in 5-1 win

Pitching: Starter Derek Holland left after allowing a solo homer in the first inning with soreness in the back of his left throwing shoulder. Anthony Bass pitched five innings of emergency relief and held the Astros to one run on four hits. Roman Mendez replaced Bass in the seventh and gave up a run on two hits. After Shawn Tolleson pitched a perfect eighth, Neftali Feliz was touched for a two-run homer by Colby Rasmus in the ninth to make it 5-1.

Hitting: Prince Fielder had three of the Rangers’ six hits. Rougned Odor and Adrian Beltre each doubled. Delino DeShields had the lone RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Notables: Right fielder Shin-Soo Choo left the game early with back spasms ... Left fielder Ryan Rua left the game with a right ankle sprain. X-rays were negative. He’s listed as day to day.
