13B Joey Gallo

(Age: 21) His tremendous power and improved pitch recognition this spring has the Rangers stoked about his major league future, which appears to be only a season away. With Adrian Beltre entrenched at third, the question is, how long do the Rangers wait before finding him a new position?

2C Jorge Alfaro

(Age: 21) His improved defense this spring was matched by a confidence at the plate that shined in a ninth-inning, pinch-hit RBI single in a game this spring.

3RHP Alex ‘Chi Chi’ Gonzalez

(Age: 23) He impressed enough this spring to be given strong consideration for a spot in the rotation with an improved changeup to go with a solid fastball and slider.

4OF Nomar Mazara

(Age: 19) He acquitted himself well in back-to-back major league games this spring, throwing out a runner at home from right and collecting two hits.

5RHP Jake Thompson

(Age: 21) He came over from the Tigers last summer in the Joakim Soria trade and by all accounts the Rangers got a steal. He had 130 strikeouts with a 3.12 ERA in 130 innings in the minors last summer.

6OF Nick Williams

(Age: 21) He struggled a bit against Double A pitching last summer with 21 strikeouts in 62 at-bats but has improved his approach at the plate this spring and has solid tools defensively.

7OF Ryan Rua

(Age: 25) He entered camp as the favorite to earn the job in left and remains a versatile option either there or as a fourth outfielder who can play the infield, too.

8RHP Luis Ortiz

(Age: 19) First-round pick in 2014 had a solid season in rookie ball and High A with a 1.77 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 20 innings.

9RHP Keone Kela

(Age: 21, turns 22 on April 16) He moved into legitimate big league consideration with an impressive spring that showcased an improved changeup to go with his mid-90s fastball.

10OF Lewis Brinson

(Age: 20) First-round draft choice in 2012 has improved at the plate this spring, limiting the holes in his swing and continuing to shine defensively.— Stefan Stevenson
