Pitching: Derek Holland allowed four of his five runs in the fifth inning during a Cubs rally that was fueled by an error on Tommy Field on a certain double-play grounder. Holland, who allowed six hits, left after retiring the leadoff batter in the sixth. … Two misplays also hurt Kyuji Fujikawa, who allowed five runs in the Cubs’ eight-run ninth.

Hitting: Carlos Corporan had his best day of the spring, collecting a double and a homer in relief of Robinson Chirinos. … Ed Lucas had a team-high three hits. … Adrian Beltre went 0 for 2 and is batting .154 this spring.

Notable: The Cubs-Rangers game drew a crowd of 5,320 at Surprise Stadium, giving the Rangers a total spring attendance of 96,353 over 15 home dates (6,424 average).
