Rangers’ homers not enough as Bonilla roughed up
Pitching: Lisalverto Bonilla’s final Cactus League audition was a flop. The right-hander, bidding for a bullpen job, allowed seven runs and got only one out in the first inning. … Neftali Feliz was lucky to allow only two in the ninth, thanks to a terrific catch at the center-field wall by Jake Smolinski.
Hitting: Adam Rosales hit the first of four solo homers, three of which came in the third. Leonys Martin and Smolinski went back-to-back to start the inning, and Ryan Rua followed two batters later. … Martin and Smolinski each added RBI hits, and Rua drove in a run with a groundout.
Notable: Shortstop Elvis Andrus (lower back stiffness) and third baseman Adrian Beltre (rest) were scratches from the lineup. Andrus is day-to-day, but Beltre is expected to play Tuesday. … Left-hander Ross Detwiler, firmly in the Rangers’ rotation, allowed two runs on eight hits in 61/3 innings in a minor league intrasquad game.
