Chi Chi fans the flames on joining the Rangers rotation
Pitching: Chi Chi Gonzalez walked two batters in the third and fell behind Joey Votto before coming back to strike him out on an 87 mph change-up to end the inning. In the fourth, however, Devin Mesoraco followed a Marlon Byrd triple with a two-run homer to right to tie the game at 2-2. Gonzalez allowed two runs on four hits in five innings. Keone Kela pitched on back-to-back days and got two outs in the seventh.
Hitting: Ryan Rua drove in a run with an opposite field double off the wall in the second. Rua tripled to the gap in right-center to drive in three runs and give the Rangers a 6-5 lead. Hanser Alberto followed with a double down the left field line to score Rua and give the Rangers a 2-0 lead in the second. DeShields turned a routine single to right in to a double in the seventh. Ryan Ludwick and Nate Scheirholtz both had two singles.
Notable: Shortstop Hander Alberto made a nice one-hop stop on a hard-hit ball in the fifth ... Delino DeShields, Jr., was thrown out trying to steal third by the pitcher for the second out of the fifth ... In the tenth, DeShields was caught trying to steal second ... DeShields made an ill-advised dive on a shallow fly in front of him in the sixth and it rolled to the wall for a triple.
