Pitching: Derek Holland held the Mariners scoreless over three innings in his first spring training game. Holland allowed two hits and a walk in 32 pitches. He also threw 10 pitches in the bullpen after the game. Jon Edwards and Spencer Patterson each were tagged with homers by the Mariners’ Mike Zunino, the second was a two-run shot in the sixth. Shawn Tolleson allowed a solo homer in two innings. Neftali Feliz allowed a two-out triple in the ninth.

Hitting: Mitch Moreland’s two-run homer in the seventh gave the Rangers a brief 4-3 lead. It was his second this spring. Elliot Johnson tripled to left-center field but was stranded.

Notable: Ryan Rua misplayed a shallow fly in left that got past him for a leadoff double. … Right fielder Nomar Mazara threw out Jesus Sucre by five steps at home plate to end seventh. He also made a long, running catch in foul territory in the third … Alex Claudio was ejected after hitting a Mariners batter with his first pitch in the seventh. Two Rangers had been hit by pitches.
