Rangers’ Gomez seeing progress with hamstring
Carlos Gomez took batting practice and ran sprints on the field Tuesday as he continues his rehab from a strained right hamstring, and the center fielder is confident that he will beat the estimated recovery time of four to six weeks.
“The way I’m looking at it and the way we’re going, I’d say yes,” Gomez said.
Gomez was injured May 14 as he sprinted home and scored on an infield single by Delino DeShields. The initial thought after the game was that he wouldn’t need any more than 10 days off the field.
“BP is easy to hit, so I’m crushing BP,” Gomez said. “The big thing is running the bases and going side to side. Right now, things are going well.”
DeShields returned to the lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays after a few days off to deal with some mild back soreness.
