Rangers roll behind big bats, Nick Tepesch
Pitching: Anthony Ranaudo said that normal elbow discomfort forced him out of his start as a precaution after 2 1/3 innings and three runs allowed. He expects to make his next start. Another rotation candidate, Nick Tepesch, scattered three hits in 3 1/3 scoreless frames.
Hitting: Jorge Alfaro had his finest day of the spring, making his first start and connecting for a triple and an RBI double. He’s batting .364. … Adrian Beltre’s lone hit in three at-bats was his first Cactus League homer.
Notable: The Rangers collected four extra-base hits, including two triples, after making some loud outs in the early innings. “They continued to hunt the fastball, they continued to hunt the middle of the field, and wound up getting some hard contact,” manager Jeff Banister said.
