What to know about MLB Home Run Derby national anthem singer Ingrid Andress

Ingrid Andress’ profile increased exponentially after her rendition of the national anthem at the 2024 Home Run Derby went viral with many online mocking her vocal abilities.

But who is Andress?

Here’s what to know about the country music star.

Where’s she from?

Andress was born in Southfield, Mich., but grew up in Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Famous mentor

Former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi taught Andress when the Michigan native attended the Berklee College of Music and would later take on a mentor role with the young songstress.

Chart and critical success

Despite what fans may think based on her performance, Andress is a successful country singer with two albums Lady Like (ninth) and Good Person (18th) that have charted in the top 20 for Billboard Country albums.

She’s also been nominated for four Grammys including ‘Best New Artist,’ ‘Best Country Song,’ and ‘Best Country Album,’ for her 2021 debut Lady Like.

Sports connections

Andress’s father Brad, was a strength and conditioning coach for several MLB teams including the Tigers, Rockies and Mets while also working with the University of Michigan. In College, the elder Andress won a national title with infamous head coach Joe Paterno at Penn State in 1982.
