Adam Scott feels rested, ready to contend for Colonial title in Fort Worth
While the buzz among Wednesday’s crowd at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational revolved around a high-profile pro-am participant in another group, the only two-time PGA Tour winner in this week’s field enjoyed a stress-free morning round and declared himself rested, ready and hungry to win again in Fort Worth.
Adam Scott, the No. 7 player in the world golf rankings and the 2014 Colonial champ, said he has “kind of got that spring back in my step the last couple of weeks” after taking a recent break from competition. Scott said he “ran out of gas at the Masters,” where he played his sixth event in eight weeks, and has focused on conserving his energy for a strong summer stretch that, by his calculations, begins this week at Colonial. He played a morning pro-am round Wednesday before yielding the afternoon focus to Jordan Spieth and actor Bill Murray, Spieth’s pro-am partner.
A native of Australia, Scott said he even managed to squeeze in a day of surfing last week while peers competed at the AT&T Byron Nelson in Irving.
“That’s always a big mental recharge for me,” Scott said. “I came away from that feeling really good. I kind of have that spring back in my step again and I’m ready to tackle this event and what’s coming this summer.”
