Actor Bill Murray to join Jordan Spieth in pro-am group at Colonial

There will be a Cinderella Story unfolding in Wednesday’s pro-am at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational.

Bill Murray, the actor who played greens-keeper Carl Spackler in Caddyshack, will be paired will be paired with the 2015 Masters champion at Colonial Country Club. Murray, an avid golfer, will be one of four amateurs in the group with Dallas resident Jordan Spieth, the reigning U.S. Open champion and No. 2 player in the world golf rankings.

The group tees off at noon on the No. 1 tee.

Rounding out the rest of the pro-am group will be Colonial tournament chairman Bobby Patton, a part-owner for the Los Angeles Dodgers; Kuhn Ying and Jay Danzi, Spieth’s agent.

In the 12:20 p.m. group at No. 1, Fort Worth golfer J.J. Henry, a former TCU standout, will be joined by Horned Frogs’ football coach Gary Patterson in his pro-am group. Rounding out the group are Dee Kelly, Roger Lee and Mike Hernandez.

Spieth, the U.S. Open champion, joins British Open champ Zach Johnson, a two-time Colonial champ, as the reigning major champions in the field for Thursday’s opening round.
