DFW’s most marketable athlete has a new commercial, and like most of his crucial putts, Jordan Spieth absolutely nails the performance.
In the new SportsCenter ad, he’s eating in the ESPN cafeteria, and gets a much-needed assist from caddie Michael Greller when he can’t decide which utensil to use for his mac ’n’ cheese.
The commercial is a sly commentary on the meticulous (some might say too meticulous) analysis pro golfers engage in with their caddies on every shot and club choice.
ESPN writer Jason Sobel offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the shoot, and shares that Spieth would end up eating 51 mouthfuls of mac ‘n’ cheese before the director finally said “that’s a wrap!” (Good thing Jordan can walk off all those carbs on the course.)

The ad fits in perfectly with the best SportCenter spots, poking fun at athletes but also humanizing them. But does this new spot unseat Spieth’s “My Buddy” for PGATour.com as his best? See what you think.
There’s never a dull moment these days for Spieth, who recently appeared on Golf Channel’s Feherty for a two-part interview. He is getting ready to defend his Masters title at Augusta the first week of April, and he has already committed to both local tournaments, the AT&T Byron Nelson and the Dean & DeLuca Invitational, aka Colonial.
Maybe when he’s home in late May, he’ll finally have time to hang out at his fancy new house in Dallas.
The ESPN ad starts airing this week, and because March Madness begins Thursday, you can bet we’ll be seeing plenty of Jordan Spieth during SportsCenter.
