Because forecasts call for inclement weather, the PGA Tour will implement an early start for Saturday’s third round at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

Golfers who survive the 36-hole cut will tee off in threesomes, starting at 7 a.m., at No. 1 and No. 10. The final groups are expected to begin Saturday’s round at 9 a.m., meaning third-round play will finish at Colonial around 1 p.m. or shortly thereafter. Third-round action will be tape-delayed and shown during CBS’ scheduled afternoon window (3-5 p.m.).

Saturday’s forecast calls for severe thunderstorms that could yield up to five inches of rain at the course, starting Saturday evening and extending into Sunday morning.

The Colonial was delayed three hours on Thursday by rain.

Golfers played through intermittent to heavy rain on Friday, but play was not stopped.
