John Peterson, a Fort Worth Paschal graduate who has earned $611,439 at PGA Tour events this season, is among the latest group of golfers to join the field for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, May 18-24.

Peterson, 26, who has cracked the top 25 at five events this season, joins Kevin Kisner, Ryo Ishikawa, Erik Compton and others in a nine-player list of fresh commitments announced Tuesday by tournament officials. A former LSU golfer, Peterson tied for 26th in his Colonial debut in 2013 and will be making his second career appearance in his hometown tour stop. His best finish of the season came at the Valero Texas Open, where he tied for 11th place.

Kisner, 31, has topped the $1 million mark this season and is No. 41 in the latest FedEx Cup standings. He has a pair of top-5 finishes this season, most recently a playoff loss to Jim Furyk at the RBC Heritage event on April 19.

Ishikawa, 23, is a rising star who has topped $3 million in earnings during his brief PGA Tour career and Compton, who has persevered as a professional golfer despite two heart transplants, finished 50th in his Masters debut last month in Augusta, Ga.

Other recent additions to the 92-player commitment list include Dallas resident Harrison Frazar, Chesson Hadley, Zac Blair, Shawn Stefani and Hudson Swafford. Hideki Matsuyama and Stuart Appleby have taken their names off the commitment list.

With less than two weeks before the field is finalized, Colonial holds commitments from three of the top 11 players in the world golf rankings: Dallas resident Jordan Spieth, the Masters champion (No.2), defending Colonial champ Adam Scott (No. 9) and Jimmy Walker (No. 11), a former Baylor standout who won last month’s Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.
