Mickelson starts early in Colonial’s Wednesday pro-am
Fans seeking to greet Phil Mickelson, a two-time Colonial champ, on his return to the Dean & DeLuca Invitational will need to get an early start in Wednesday’s pro-am.
Mickelson, who last played in Fort Worth in 2010, has been given the earliest tee time off the first tee (6:50 a.m.) in the Wednesday session. The five-time major champion earned Colonial titles in 2008 and 2000.
Emiliano Grillo also will begin his pro-am round at 6:50 a.m. off the 10th tee. Amateur competitors have yet to be assigned to each touring professional.
Other Wednesday pro-am times for other notable participants include Masters champion Sergio Garcia (7:30 a.m., No. 1), Graeme McDowell (7:50 a.m., No. 1), Byron Nelson champ Billy Horschel (8:20 a.m., No. 1), defending Colonial champ Jordan Spieth (noon, No. 1), Brandt Snedeker (12:10 p.m., No. 1), Fort Worth resident J.J. Henry (12:20 p.m., No. 1), two-time Colonial champ Zach Johnson (12:40 p.m., No. 10), Matt Kuchar (12:10 p.m., No. 10), Colleyville resident Ryan Palmer (12:20 p.m., No. 10) and Colleyville resident Chad Campbell (2 p.m., No. 10).
Although speculation has centered on the possibility of celebrity participants in the pro-am, including actor Bill Murray (a participant last year), tournament officials have not confirmed any tee times for amateur participants as of Wednesday afternoon.
