Colleyville resident looking to carry momentum into Colonial

After finishing tied for 13th last week at the AT&T Byron Nelson, Colleyville resident Chad Campbell wants to carry the momentum into this week’s Dean & DeLuca Invitational.

He tied for 10th here at Colonial Country Club last year.

“It’s one of my favorite tournaments of the year and I just love being out here,” Campbell said. “I love the golf course, love all the people that are associated with the event and I just always enjoyed playing here.”

It was good bounce-back performance after missing the cut in his previous three tournaments. He hopes that carries over this week in Fort Worth.

“I’ve had a little bit of success over there in the past. I seem to play well there so maybe that was it, familiarity with the course,” said Campbell, who’s ranked 89th in the FedEx Cup standings. “My main goal this week is to give myself a chance to win and see what happens from there.”

Campbell shot a 6-under 274 at the Nelson, beating par three of four days.

“Obviously felt a lot better. It was a pretty good week for me,” Campbell said. “I started to make a few putts so it was nice to see the ball start to go in again and nice to see that get back on track.”
