English soccer superstar hits DFW barbecue staple during World Cup visit

Soccer-mania has hit the Metroplex during the World Cup at AT&T Stadium, and David Beckham, one of the sport’s most famous stars, stopped by a couple of Dallas-Fort Worth staples during his time in town.

Beckham stopped at the Terry Black’s Barbecue location in Dallas, with the restaurant posting about the visit on Instagram. The former English superstar wasn’t the first bit of soccer royalty to stop by, with Norway’s Erling Haaland making a visit earlier in the tournament.

It wasn’t just food, either. Beckham did some stopping at the McKinney Hat Company in McKinney for an authentic piece of Texas headgear.

Beckham also attended Tuesday’s game between France and Spain at AT&T stadium and was shown on the jumbotron near the 80th minute of the game to applause.

It’s a busy time for Beckham as England prepares to play Argentina in a World Cup semifinal Wednesday in Atlanta, with a chance for the country to make the final for the first time since its lone tournament win in 1966.

France and Spain are playing in the first semifinal Tuesday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
