British store in Grapevine ready for the match
1:47 p.m.
The British Emporium first opened in Grapevine in 1992 when a pair of friends who moved here to North Texas in the ‘80s wanted a good cup of tea and some biscuits to go with it.
“The whole thing started after a cup of hot tea, and that still is the hottest item,” owner Sheela Bailey told the Star-Telegram. “People do go abroad, and they visit Great Britain, and they find a tea or marmalade or cookie that they love, and they are so charmed to find it in a vintage British store here in Grapevine.”
“Having England play just down the street from our store is a very special occasion for our customers and us,” Bailey added. “We’re looking forward to welcoming supporters, helping them gear up for the match, and giving visiting fans a taste of home while they’re here.”

Matchup of two of world’s best
1:43 p.m.
This is a showdown that will likely decide Group L, and if recent history, holds one of these teams could very well end up in the semifinals or beyond.
England is No. 4 in the FIFA world rankings, and Croatia is No. 11. England made the semifinals in 2018 and reached the quarterfinals in 2022, and Croatia has been even better, finishing as the runner-up to France in 2018 and making the semifinals in 2022.

A brave Croatia fan wearing checkered overalls climbed a barricade carrying a large Croatia flag. With wind gusts up to 19 mph in the area, he had to be held steady by his friends.
Once he realized several fans were watching him, he started a chant and waved the flag through the air. Moments later, the gates opened up, and fans began entering the venue.

Petrović said everything is bright and big in Texas.
“Like from the cars, to the portions, everything, which I’m simply not used to,” he said.
Petrović’s key takeaway from his time in Texas so far is classic cowboy vernacular like “Howdy” and “Thank ye,” both of which he pronounces with an extra syllable at the end.
The only complaint Petrović has had is not being able to walk around with a beer in his hand due to the Texas open container laws.
