Fort Worth relaxes rules around World Cup signs, but only in these four areas

The Fort Worth City Council unanimously approved a proposal to temporarily relax city rules around signage in four districts ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

The change, approved Tuesday, March 31, creates an expedited process for World Cup signs in the Stockyards, downtown, Near Southside and West 7th. These include banners, flags and murals.

The temporary rules will allow businesses to take advantage of the World Cup without having to go through the usual city red tape to get a new sign approved.

The change applies from June 1 to July 27, and the signs need to be taken down after the World Cup ends.

The AT&T Stadium will host nine World Cup games — the most of any venue. City officials expect visitors to the games to generate $2.1 billion worth of economic impact.

North Texas is expecting over 740,000 ticketed attendees and 1.5 million visitors overall, according to a city of Fort Worth report.
