Duncanville pulls away late to overpower Arlington Sam Houston
Duncanville took a 24-10 lead at the half, but Sam Houston, behind Jacob Dollar, rallied to within 24-23 in the third quarter. The Panthers took the game back after that, however, and held off the Texans 38-23 in a nondistrict game Thursday at Wilemon Field
Key players: Duncanville quarterback Jaylin Nelson rushed for 110 yards on 18 carries with scoring runs of 2 and 8 yards. Nelson also went 16-of-27 passing for 280 yards and a 54-yard TD. Jacob Dollar led Sam Houston with 224 yards passing on 19 completions. Dollar had a 13-yard scoring pass to Julian Bassett.
Key stat: Sam Houston had trouble moving the ball in the first half. The Texans only had 2 first downs in the first half and 46 total yards. The Texans finished with 235 total yards, 11 rushing and 224 passing.
