FW All Saints running back honored as Texas high school football player of the week
Fort Worth All Saints senior running back Montaye Dawson was named a Week 5 Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week on Wednesday after his career-night in the season opener vs. Azle.
The Saints, who won 70-50 on Friday, got 359 yards rushing and five touchdowns from Dawson, who is a 3-star SMU commit.
Three of Dawson’s TDs came from more than 55 yards (75, 63 and 57).
Dawson transferred to All Saints earlier this year after spending the past three seasons at Mansfield Timberview. Dawson has been playing varsity football since his freshman year.
According to 247Sports, Dawson is ranked as the No. 8 Class of 2021 all-purpose back in the nation and the 102nd-ranked player in Texas. He also had offers from Texas Tech, Houston, Nebraska, UNT and Baylor.
“Montaye has been a great addition to the All Saints’ football program in many ways. Not only is he a special player, he is an unselfish person,” said head coach Aaron Beck. “Montaye is very focused on his teammates and inspires others to be great as well. As far as his talent, he is truly unique in his ability to move quickly in all directions. His change of pace and patience with the line in setting blocks puts him at an elite level.”
