Dallas-Fort Worth high school football winners in Week 2 from Sanger, Rio Vista

Sanger’s Tallyn Welborn and Creed Carter, and the Rio Vista Eagles were voted Week 2 high school football winners.

Welborn, offensive player of the week, rushed for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 49-35 win over Lake Worth. He also had 8 catches for 130 yards. Welborn received 58% of the votes while Argyle WR Cole Kirkpatrick came in second with 37%

Carter, defensive player of the week, was key in Sanger’s win over the Bullfrogs with 18 tackles, 12 solo and 2 forced fumbles. He received 59% of the votes. Pilot Point’s Avery Smith came in second with 39% in the Bearcats’ win over Castleberry.

Rio Vista was voted team of the week after the Eagles started 2-0 for the first time since 2008. They received 38% of the votes and edged out Aubrey, who got 37%.
