Texas Rangers, Globe Life Park to host five more high school football games this fall
The Texas Rangers announced on Tuesday that Globe Life Park will be hosting five additional high school football games this season, bringing its total to 19 games.
In April, the Rangers and Arlington ISD finalized an agreement to play at least 14 regular-season games at Globe Life Park, which had been the home of the XFL’s Dallas Renegades earlier this year until the league permanently suspended operations because of the coronavirus.
Globe Life Park was converted to a multi-purpose facility with a synthetic grass surface after the 2019 baseball season.
During the opening weekend for Class 6A and 5A schools, five games will be played at Globe Life Park, including a triple-header on Saturday, Sept. 26. Arlington Seguin and Fort Worth Wyatt will play in the morning followed by a battle between Parker County schools Weatherford and 9-time state champ Aledo.
Saturday will be capped off by the Battle of the Red Rail between Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine.
Arlington Lamar and Euless Trinity will begin the season on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
The big headliner will feature nationally-ranked Duncanville (No. 6) and IMG Academy (No. 2), a private boarding school in Florida. The game is scheduled for noon on Saturday Oct. 10.
Arlington High will play there the most times at seven while outside of the district, Mansfield, Euless Trinity and Grand Prairie will play at Globe Life Park twice.
Tickets are on sale now starting at $12. They’re available in sets of 2, 4 and 6 to allow for social distancing within Globe Life Park due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gates will open one hour before kickoff.
