UConn lands verbal commitment from Byron Nelson running back Maxwell Modeste

Trophy Club Nelson 2021 running back Max Modeste announced his commitment to the University of Connecticut via Twitter on Tuesday.

Modeste chose UConn over Air Force, Navy, Columbia, Dartmouth and Penn.

“I would like to thank God for the blessings he has given my family and I,” he said in a tweet. “Thank you UConn coaches for the opportunity and believing in me.”

Modeste was voted second-team All-District 5-6A last season.

According to Max Preps, Modeste rushed for 636 yards and eight touchdowns in seven games. He averaged 5.8 yards per carry and 91 yards per game. He recorded two 100-yard games.

Modeste rushed 22 times for 196 yards and four TDs vs. The Colony on Sept. 13.

He rushed for 148 yards against Keller Central on Oct. 4.
