Watch as Arlington Bowie football coach delivers letterman jackets amid pandemic

It’s not the first time Arlington Bowie head football coach Danny DeArman made the news for doing a good deed during struggling times, and it won’t be the last.

The coronavirus pandemic has put everyone in quarantine for the past two months, meaning DeArman hasn’t seen his student-athletes on a daily basis.

Gov. Abbott shut down schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 year, which set back several senior events such as graduation and prom. The UIL canceled spring activities and state championships, which included spring football.

With the academic year nearing an end, it’s time to send out letterman jackets for football players from the 2019 season, but with the coronavirus, quarantine and social distancing are involved.

So DeArman got into his car and handed out all 18. He also filmed a few:

In Sept. 2018, DeArman rescued a woman from flooding waters.

Last season, DeArman helped set up a tribute during a game vs. Trimble Tech after his starting defensive end, senior Anthony Strather lost his life when he was shot and killed in Arlington in October.

In August during a game vs. Marcus, DeArman and Bowie helped raise awareness for autism.
